Three Lives & Four Laws

end-of-life

In this post we want to see the three lives and four laws found in Romans chapter 7 and 8. In these two chapters of the Bible we discover that as Christians we are very complicated because within us are three lives. We have the human life from our parents. We have the devilish life from Adam’s fall (John 8:44). Finally we have the divine life through our regeneration (1 John 5:1,12). With these three lives we are the children of our parents, the children of the devil, and children of God (1 John 3:10; John 3:6). With these three lives we have three laws. The law of the human life is the law of good in our mind (Romans 7:21). The law of the devilish life is the law of sin and death in our body, which through the fall become the flesh (Romans 8:2b). The law of the divine life is the law of the Spirit of life in our spirit (Romans 8:2a. The fourth law is outside of us and it is called the law of God (Romans 7:22). This law makes demands on us and corresponds with the law of good in our mind. However whenever we determine to follow the law of God outside of us by the human life another life the devilish life in our flesh raises up with the law of sin and death and overpowers us and defeats us (Romans 7:23-24).

As Christians we need to forget about the law of God and activate the law of the Spirit of life in our spirit. We need to see that the divine life within us has a law that spontaneously operates according the richness of it’s life. We need to give the law of the seed of the divine life ( 1 Peter 1:23) within us the right environment and opportunity to grow. This is produced through our loving the Lord (Romans 8:28). We also need to stop ourself from trying to do fulfill the God of law by our natural strength and simply love our dear Lord Jesus. I would like to change the word trusting in hymn 569 to loving so that stanza one could read, simple loving everyday, loving through a stormy way, loving Him whatever befall, loving Jesus that is all. In Revelation 2:4 we are warned not to leave or first love.
